About the author

John I. Penn, Sr. is a native of Roanoke, VA. Penn has served seven-and-a-half years as the Director of Spiritual Formation and Healing at Upper Room Ministries. He has also served as a pastor for 25 years and also as a science teacher for twenty-five years. He is the author of nine books and enjoys playing tennis, gardening, composing music, reading, and listening to jazz. He resides in Canton, Ga., with his wife, Gloria J. Parker Penn. They have six children (one deceased), nine grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Penn earned degrees from the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff (Bachelor of Science in Music Education), Oral Roberts University (Master of Theology), Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary [now Palmer Theological Seminary] (Master of Divinity), and Wesley Theological Seminary (Doctor of Ministry).
